DESIGN MANAGER - DARTINGTON, DEVON (4-5 DAYS PER WEEK)


We're looking for a seasoned Design Manager to translate our commercial strategy and core brand principles of comfort and confidence into bestselling, innovative and competitive ranges of own-label clothing, footwear and accessories. Working collaboratively with our Creative Director and Head of Production, you'll create collections that look great, wear well and fit beautifully for our ever-increasing and ever-evolving tribe of customers, – no matter their age, shape or size – and work hard to elevate design, quality and detail across our entire product range and design function.

It'll be your job to add value by:

  • Partnering with the Creative Director and Head of Production & Buying to consistently deliver beautiful, commercially successful and thoughtfully designed pieces that hit critical objectives across style, fit, wearability, seasonality/transitionality, sustainability, quality, price point and brand aesthetic
  • Understanding our customer in her various forms, and the differing needs, wants and mindsets of those audiences, then planning the product offering to optimise the opportunity of each; growing brand love and loyalty with our known customers and introducing the brand to new ones
  • Overseeing all aspects of design and range development, including: research, competitor shopping and trend reports; moodboarding and range conception/direction/review; product sourcing / manufacturer placement (with the Head of Production); Prototyping instructions, fitting and gold-seals (with the Head of Production); Post-sales product review
  • Working closely with the production team/timeframes and our overseas agents to ensure all products are delivered on time, on budget and to spec, and collaborating on improvements to internal design and production processes in order to streamline ways of working – both for now and for the future
  • Creating and maintaining an open dialogue with key colleagues on the front-line of sales – in stores and online – to gather, assess and action product feedback and ensure that we’re nailing our offering, and the fit and feel of our clothing, for every type of customer, wherever she shops
  • Understanding 360-degree product insights – everything from merchandising and e-commerce data to customer reviews, store feedback, press selections, core trends and industry advancements – and translating these into meaningful design decisions
  • Visiting manufacturers and suppliers (predominantly within Europe) to discover new products, fabrics, prints, trims, opportunities in sustainability, production techniques, trends and other design developments
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues in production, merchandising, marketing and finance to share information and maximise potential across sales, margins, budget control, supplier relationships, brand reach and customer satisfaction
  • Leading, coaching, and expanding the design team as it grows
  • From time to time, presenting design concepts, reviews and insights to key stakeholders and the Board.

RETAIL ASSISTANTS - TRURO

Our Retail Assistants ensure Busby & Fox's distinctive ethos, customer care and brand look-and-feel are represented to customers from the moment they first step through our doors and throughout their continued relationship with us. You'll be on hand to provide assistance and advice to customers where needed, process sales and other transactions, and help the store management team make sure the space is well-stocked and beautifully presented at all times.
